Breathing Room by Anna Berry

Producer (Dec 2018 – Present)

Breathing Room is a kinetic light installation in which a tunnel lined with cones ‘breathes’, creating a strange and otherworldly immersive experience

Created by lead artist Anna Berry and collaborator/engineer Clive Doherty, following an initial Unlimited R&D grant to support the development of this work in prototype form, which was showcased at the Attenborough Centre, Leicester and Southbank Centre, London.

I worked with Anna to develop the prototype into the final installation piece, ready for touring to outdoor art and light festivals, originally planned for  2020 onwards. We are successful recipients of an Unlimited fund, commissioning the final creation and planned touring through 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the touring of ‘Breathing Room’ was postponed. The premier of the piece with co-commissioner Milton Keynes International Festival took place in July 2021.

I also developed successful funding applications to support digital iterations of the piece: a 360 degree documentary film capture, and a Virtual Reality fully rendered piece.
